Asian Ethnic Groups, a Brief History

The largest and most populous continent, Asia is home to thousands of diverse ethnic groups, dozens of religions, and almost two-thirds of the people on earth.

In Southeast Asia, the Austronesian peoples are the major ethnic group. They predominate in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Polynesia, Taiwan, Madagascar, Brunei, and regions of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Other Asian ethnic groups include the Tai (Thailand) and Altaic (Korea). Nepal is home to forty distinct tribes, while Burma has more than one hundred small ethnic groups.
