Autumn Favorites Poem

I used to live in North Carolina, where autumn in the mountains is a glorious sight to behold. The higher the elevation, the greater the show of colors, and driving the winding mountain roads through a sea of greens, golds, and reds is a spectacle of nature that people come from all over to see.

The turning of fall foliage is my favorite thing about autumn, but there are others. I love the cool crisp air of autumn. It's the cue to pull out my favorite old sweaters (and shop for new ones).

Autumn is the season of activities our family enjoys most, especially our seven year old:

• buying and decorating pumpkins


• making s’mores by the fire pit


• diving into leaf piles in the yard


• decorating with scary skeletons


• trick or treating on Halloween

There are even more reasons to have celebrations in the fall: my birthday in October, Thanksgiving in November, all leading up to Christmas ... but that's another season :)

Autumn Poem

Autumn is my favorite season,
Halloween is, of course, a reason.
Witches sail around on brooms
while children pick out fun costumes.

Autumn is a time for fun
while 'round the fire pit, ghost stories are spun.
Put a marshmallow on a stick
and eat that gooey treat right quick.

Autumn is a sight to see
as leaves change from one color to three.
Bright colors like red, orange, and gold
are a wonderful sight to behold.

Make autumn your favorite time of year...
You won’t be sorry as the season draws near.
