Grandparents Day Inspiration Poem
by Sarah
Lucky people start with all four grandparents when they are born. I do remember my grandmother a tiny bit, I had her until I was four years old. But for most of my life I only had my Grandpa. He made up for being the only grandparent by taking part in our lives. I used to resent this, but I know now that with 21 grandchildren I was the natural one to be in charge. And with 21 grandchildren, each going and growing in different directions, you would think it difficult to play a part in each child's life. But he follows our lives, and knows every important thing about each one us. When we were young, we each got a birthday trip with Grandpa. We were allowed to pick where we wanted to go, and whether we wanted to include siblings and cousins. We spent the day doing something fun with Grandpa. I have many fond memories of my birthday trips. The older I get, the more Grandpa inspires me. He has eight children, all of which he raised well. You see, Grandpa was a teacher and a principal in Catholic private school. He made a very modest living but still managed to raise eight normal, happy children. This inspires me often, and when I look at my bank account and feel disappointed over the small number, I just remind myself, “If he could do it, than I can do it.” Grandparents Day Poem
