Halloween Superhero Poem
by Michael Spelman II
When I was six, I really wanted to be Batman. Mother finally gave in and bought me the costume. For weeks I counted the days until Halloween. I was so excited, I could barely sleep. Night was forever in coming. I got those excitement jitters that you get before something big was about to happen. When evening arrived, I ran through the neighborhood collecting candy with a big smile (invisible behind my Batman mask) on my face. I was a 6 year old boy living the life of a superhero. For that one night, I wasn't Michael, I was Batman. When you're a kid, everything seems so much bigger then it really is. I was a superhero that day. Michael Spelman U.S. Army.
