Mothers Day Poem To Son

My Wonderful Husband and Boys

My Wonderful Husband and Boys

I have been a mother for eight years, and during this time I have felt the joy of watching my sons grow and experience new things. In our house, every Mothers Day is a little different. My husband is creative, and a natural romantic. He provides the kids with a plan, each year they follow through, and I have a wonderful Mothers Day!

On my favorite Mothers Day, my husband pretended he had forgotten the holiday. He said he was going to take the kids to the park, and stop by his brother's for a visit. I was disappointed but did not show it until they had left. I sat in the living room all teary eyed, feeling sorry for myself.

Soon there was a knock on the door. It was my youngest son holding a single yellow rose. He gave it to me and said "I love you!" I was surprised ...

Next came my oldest, and he too had a single yellow rose. He gave me a hug and kiss and told me he loved and appreciated me. Wow! I mean, my kids were four and six!

Then in came my husband with a dozen red roses and box of my favorite chocolates. He had a big cheesy grin on his face ... he knew he had tricked me into believing he had forgotten. He loved the idea of suprise!

For the rest of the day I was pampered and smothered with so much love I could live off it for a year. So, I penned this poem to my wonderful husband and sons.

Beautiful Are You

I want you to remember that beautiful are you,
With curious hands and innocent eyes as bright as the ocean blue.

The moment that I saw you my heart did skip a beat,
and when you grabbed my finger I felt immediate defeat.

You had my heart a tangled mess and I'm sure you always will.
For a mothers love for her child will never ever yield.

As years go by, I watch you grow, my heart does melt away,
Just knowing that someday you'll want to go your separate way.

I pray you will be happy, and live a blessed life.
Filled with beauty, filled with love, never feeling strife.

I know that you will feel some pain, my hope is that you, too,
will experience the love that I have each time I look at you.

Never forget what I told you when you were brand new,
the angels sang a lovely song looking down on you.

They said it in a whisper that "beautiful are you"
