Normal children's wishes can become resolutions, or useful goals:

"I want to be popular" can inspire the resolution: "I will be nicer to other kids"
"I want to look better" can be achieved by "I will do something physically active (play sports, ride my bike, dance, jump rope) at least three times a week"
"I want a good report card" can be fulfilled by "I will turn in my homework on time" or "I will ask for extra help as soon as I need it"
