Romance, Love, Lots of Red Roses!

by Roshini
(Cochin, India)

The long weekend was wet and dripping. The surroundings added to my gloom. I was feeling lonely and depressed in a new town. There were few friends. Bombay in 1990 was strange and secluded compared to the small town I came from.

Govind was only one friend I had in the big city. He was a childhood friend, we had studied together. So, I was really wanting to call him.

The minute I thought about him, the calling bell rang. I ran to open the door and there was the biggest surprise of my life: a bunch of red roses with a big ribbon tied on it! The delivery boy gave the bunch to me. I tipped and thanked him.

Suddenly, my phone rang. My friend’s parents were on the line. They were inviting me to spend the night with them. The car came and picked me up. I was surprised, for there was again a bunch of roses inside the car.

Finally when I reached home, there was Govind on his knees with a single red rose. He was proposing to me! My happiness was equal to the bunch of blooming red roses that was given to me.

From the day of proposal to my engagement, I got a single red rose every day. On the day of my engagement, red roses covered the whole hall!

We exchanged rings with the thousand red rose buds. Govind knew my love for the red roses, and he had given them to me to make my day great!

Quite flattering!

That is so romantic. Flowers always play a huge role in romance...luckily my boyfriend understands this very well...He always sends me flowers - regardless of the mood or occasion - it's really flattering. But this Valentine's I sent flowers online to Italy, where he is now. He was really surprised :)
